Clegg

Just saw Nick Clegg on the Andrew Marr Show this morning.  Really finding it difficult to differentiate between Clegg and Cameron and Blair.  They all have the same hand actions and that indefatigable energy that will not allow any interruption of their speech.  Hand waving, mouth moving, I think he's on amphetamines.

Yet, he doesn't seem to know - although he probably does - that he's for a wipe-out at the next election.  Only now, after 18-months in government supporting the Tories, is he turning on his heel and saying that he'll fight the policies of the 'ruthless' Tories.  A bit late, no?

He looks in the photograph as if he's demonstrating how he kisses Cameron's arse.  In fact, he's playing to the crowd at the conference.  He's incompetent and has buttressed Cameron while reneging on his original health and education policies.

Sad, because he held such promise as a counterbalance to the extreme views of the Tories, that the only party worth voting for now is the greens and they have no chance against the traditional two-party dictatorship.

THE RIOTS

Feeling at the centre of a whirlpool of events?

Having just listened to the latest Camerontheball proclamations, that the inevitability of his knee-jerk policies will lead to a worsening of anti-social behaviour is becoming increasingly manifest.

Just take:
  • A family test will be applied to all policies.
Doesn't really mean anything, does it? Is it to find out how the policies will affect families? How? Really can't imagine this.

Then there's:

  • National Citizen Service for all 16-year-olds.
This already takes place amongst young people by an astronomically higher proportion of youth than you would find amongst unemployed, disengaged, benefit-dependent youngsters. You just can't establish a policy of one size fits all according to the lowest common denominator, especially when there are lots of our youth contributing to the good of society: working in charity shops; raising funds for the homeless; befriending the lonely and the disinherited.

Do we have a louche society? Well, it's all relative. We're all individuals and the meddling of government by trying to castigate all in society as being in need of monitoring and rectifying in some way is fatuous to say the least. Greed and a lack of policing fired the riots along with an alacritous response by techno-savvy yooves to Blackberry messaging.

Simple.

Cameron's not responsible: the parents of the rioters are!
