The proof is in the
pudding, or in this case, in Chelidonium and Bellis Per.
In the past I’ve tried
homeopathic remedies for various ailments but they’ve never worked. Recently, I’ve had trouble sleeping on my
left side, even on the softest of beds, due to sciatica. I mentioned this to Ani Sherab, a Buddhist nun
who I had met first met in Glasgow but had now come across at a retreat in
Sikkim. She produced a little travelling
box of homeopathic remedies and gave it to me to use. The names of the 'medicines' sounded liked ailments and that reminded me that they are meant to work like an inoculation, delivering a minute dose of whatever it is that the patient is suffering from: a bit like a snake serum.
I read the booklet on
various diagnoses and took Chelidonium and Bellis Per as instructed…and it
worked straight away! The nocturnal pain
subsided and I was at last able to sleep on my left side. I was also aware that Ani Sherab had suffered a cold during the month we were in Sikkim despite the fact she had been taking the remedies. (It was in filthy, dusty Bodhgaya and not in the unpolluted air of Sikkim that she eventually got rid of her cold.)
Does this convince that
homeopathic remedies work? Not sure that
they work in every case, but it was certainly efficacious this time.
Now, a couple of months
later and bearing the cold nights in Kathmandu, the pain has returned. Should I resume taking the medicine? Off to a recommended homeopathic doctor soon
with my brother-in-law who swears by his own consultant.
I'm interested to see how it works this time.
